Summer Reading…
I’m so excited to get back on a normal reading schedule this summer. I’ve been a reader almost my whole life and I’ve missed the wonderful experience of curling up with a good novel or being really challenged by something outside my Master’s program. Here’s what’s on my list for this summer:
NOVELS:
The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart
- I stumbled across this book in the Young Adults section in Barnes & Noble (a great place to browse if you haven’t been there in a while!). I finished it a few weeks ago and it was fabulous. Pretty direct message about the negative effects of media (or the potential effects, at least), but good overall. It even managed to surprise me a few times.
The Sweet Potato Queens’ First Big Ass Novel by Jill Conner Browne
White Chocolate Moment by Lori Wick
- I finished this one a while back as well. It was good in that it was right on par with most of Wick’s writing. I happen to enjoy it as a change once in a while (something straight-forward and romantic without being too naughty). It’s not a book that will challenge your intellect or your theology, but it was a fun read.
The Egyptologist by Arthur Phillips
The Once and Future King by T.h. White
NON-FICTION:
Miles to Cross by Mike Howerton
Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell
Church History in Plain Language by Bruce L. Shelley
The Azusa Street Mission and Revival by Cecil M. Robeck
Believers by Jeffery L. Shuler
The Civil War by Geoffrey Ward
Cary Grant by Marc Eliot
What’s on your list?
Peace. Out.

Okay- I know that we relate on some movies so I’m gonna let you know who I’ve been reading all summer.
Jodi Picoult. You might not like her at all, but I’m hooked and can’t put them down. I’ve read so far- My Sister’s Keeper, The Pact, and Nineteen Minutes. They are all “court case” books- kinda like reading Law and Order in a book, but with very controversial issues or story plots. You may have read them when you were younger, but I just found out about her and man I’m hooked!
Okay, if you try one and don’t like it I’m really sorry!! Happy summer reading!
