Oscar Redux…

What a great night at the Oscars! Like many viewers, I think I loved this year’s ceremony more than usual for the simple fact that it happened at all. Here are some of my favorite moments from the evening:

“It’s true there are some angels in this city!”

“Fair play to those who dare to dream.”

Favorite dresses…

I was surprised by Marion Cotillard and Tilda Swinton’s wins, but everything else was expected. I do believe Atonement was slighted in the Cinematography category. I didn’t care that much for the movie as a whole, but it was beautifully done and the 5-minute tracking shot everyone made such a fuss over was truly extraordinary.

More to come on what it was like watching all five Best Picture nominees back-to-back on Saturday!

Enjoy your week, everyone. Go see a movie!

Peace. Out.

For only the most devoted LOST fans…

Time-Loop Theory

Wow. Imagine if this person invested all those critical thinking and analysis skills into something, you know, real.

A classic debate…

A friend and I were just discussing the differences between Southern men and Northern men. I found it a little difficult to really pinpoint what some of those differences might be, so I thought I’d open it up to you, my faithful readers (all three of you!). What makes a man Southern or Northern? And, just for conversation, what makes a woman Southern or Northern? Obviously, we’re not talking just location, but those things that are woven into the fabric of who a person is. I can’t wait to see what you guys say!

Peace. Out.

LOST…

Oh, geez Louise, here we go again…

Paul and I got out of the tangled web that is a JJ Abrams show back in the second season of Lost. I figured I had given JJ almost six years of my life as a fan of Alias, and I just didn’t have it in me to start all over again with Lost. In the second season, I started seeing some of the same signs of floundering and mystery-for-the-sake-of-mystery that unfortunately became Alias staples. I wasn’t interested in riding that roller coaster again, so we jumped ship.

Over the last year, though, during Lost’s third season, I started hearing that the show had found a firm footing. The producers came out and said they have a specific timeline and know what the final end will look like. That gave me a bit of hope.

We decided to give Lost another shot and watched the Season 4 premiere last night…and now I’m right back in the thick of it. I was sort of primed for the show, what with the writers’ strike providing only limited viewing opportunities and the whole Cloverfield love-fest that’s been going on at my house recently.

If the writers’ strike has shown me anything, it’s that I’ve learned there are a lot of TV shows I don’t really miss when they’re absent. After last night’s Lost episode, I’m pretty happy to find an old/new show that captivates and intrigues me again.

So, did you watch Lost? Let’s talk in the comments section!

Peace. Out.
